About VGL

VGL was the brainchild of Ted Ayerst, an apprentice letterpress compositor who, following a spell in marketing, became a production director for a print company. Seeing the potential of pre-spaced lettering for marking signs and vehicles, he set up Jadecal, the forerunner of VGL in 1976.

From VGL “We soon built a reputation for excellence and we’ve been keeping a keen eye on technology ever since. In the early 1980s we introduced the UK’s first computer aided sign-cutting machine and, in the 1990s, we were at the forefront of digital print technology. Investing in innovation keeps our clients one step ahead of their competitors. It’s also helped us establish a worldwide reputation as one of the most pioneering forces in printing. We’re still a family run business today.”

About the Project

Working closely with VGL’s art director this campaign set out to utilise as much print machinery VGL had, all in one go. A marketing campaign designed to showcase the versatility of print technologies on offer, this pop-art inspired campaign combines wobblers, barkers, dump bins, free-standing display units, vinyl floor stickers, business cards, custom wrapped confectionery, engineered sculptures and much more.

Check out the stop-frame build of the project to see it come to life. Head over to VGL or Surface View for more.
